JORGE B. VARGAS

Business experience: Atty. Vargas represents Quezon Provincial Government Officials and Employees MPC, Lucena City where he served as past president. He is also one of the pioneer directors of Coopbank of Quezon Province and one of the top brass cooperative leaders responsible for the choice of the location to put up the Coopbank head office in Lucena City. It was during his term as secretary of Sangguniang Panlalawigan of Quezon Province where a resolution was passed allowing Coopbank to occupy the former Kadiwa Center within the Provincial Capitol Compound. He retired as Provincial Secretary of Quezon in 2002 after 31 years of distinguished service. Following his retirement from the government service, he put up his Law Office in Lucena City. He is also the sole owner of Padre Burgos Cat V , and part owner of Jilwaler Cat-V in Agdangan and JVC Cat V-Unisan, Quezon. He is a partner of Petron Gasoline Station , Gulang-gulang, Lucena City. His past achievements included his astute involvement in local politics. He was elected 1st Councilor in 1964, and vice-Mayor in 1967, both in Unisan, Quezon. A lawyer for 45 years and still on it with indiscriminate zeal, he is presently the Legal Counsel of rural Bank of Tayabas, QUEZELCO I, and the League of Municipal Engineers of Quezon Province
Other Directorships: For 26 years he has been serving as director and 16 of which as president of QUEZELCO I Electric Cooperative, an electric cooperative providing power service to 22 towns in the 3rd and 4th districts of Quezon Province. She joined SJMPC in 1990 and served as chairperson of its Credit committee for 6 years. She is also an Administration and Finance Officer of Casa del Nino Jesus de Tayabas, Comptroller of First Richland Mineral Corporation, an Agency Manager of Prudentialife Plans, Inc and proprietor of Gian’s Store. She is presently the chair of the Human Resource and Development Committee, member of the Corporate Governance, Executive Committee, Risk Management, Mediation, Conciliation and Grievance, and Credit Committee .

He worked in numerous executive financial and management positions at Mt. Carmel Diocesan General Hospital, Lucena City as Finance Director for 9 years and 11 years at Peninsula Development Bank as Corporate Secretary, Auditor, Asst. Vice-President for Acquired Asset & Corporate Planning. He also served as Cashier, Accountant and Budget Officer and professor at Manuel S. Enverga University Foundation, Lucena City for 19 years. As director of the bank, he was a former chair of the Budget committee and now heads the Credit committee. He is also a member of the Corporate Governance Committee.

Mr Puebla was a Plant Foreman then later became the OIC of Coco Chemical Philippines Oil Mill & Refinery of Atimonan Plant before he joined in the management of Farmers MPC of Sampaloc, Quezon as its General Manager starting 1990. As a working board member, he shared his experiences to the bank by serving the following committees: Risk Management, and Marketing and Promotion Committees, the latter provides linkages with cooperatives and promoting the services of the bank. He is a member of the marketing and Promotion Committee.
